Betsy Lerner is the author of The Forest for the Trees: An Editor’s Advice to Writers; Food and Loathing, and The Bridge Ladies. She has an MFA in poetry from Columbia University and has received a number of prizes including a Thomas Wolfe Poetry Prize, The Tony Godwin Publishing Fellowship and the Alan Truscott Prize from the International Bridge Press Association. Before becoming a partner with Dunow, Carlson & Lerner Literary Agency, she worked as an editor at Houghton Mifflin, Simon and Schuster and finally Doubleday as Executive Editor.
